Normal Mapped Pixel Art Demo
Controls:
Up Arrow/W: Move forward
Left/Right Arrow / A/D: Turn left/right
Space bar: Toggle normal mapped sprites on/off (disabled by default, the game generally appearing darker means normal maps are enabled)
Description:
A simple demo showing the use of normal maps (a rendering technique commonly used in 3D games, which can add more detail by using a "normal map" texture to determine which way light should reflect from different points of the surface) to enhance lighting in pixel art.
The main advantage of doing this is being able to have dynamically lit sprites that do not appear flat, without having to draw multiple separate versions of the sprite to account for every lighting angle.
